But before I even let her smell a new treat, I make sure it's of the highest quality (I'm still teaching her how to do thorough research). what we thought

N.A.S.H.A. was a bit too excited about the Vera treats. We tried the chicken fillets and the beef fillets, and she just about lost her marbles over both of them. When I opened the package, she immediately started cycling through her repertoire of tricks in hopes that one would trigger my hand to open and release the goods.  

N.A.S.H.A. eagerly shows off "up" without being asked. This is a whole treat, but they are easily broken apart for smaller dogs like ours.

The treats are pretty big for N.A.S.H.A., but they are easily broken in whatever size. Being only eleven pounds, we get about five breaks out of one treat. A whole piece would be great for larger dogs.

I love having options when it comes to purchasing pet products, and since we can never have enough to choose from when it comes to spoiling our furry friends, I'm constantly on the lookout. As I've mentioned before, N.A.S.H.A. is quite picky about her treats, so when I'm sent something for her to try that I didn't select, myself, I wonder how she'll take to it. I won't feed her junk, so I was pleased to see that the Betsy Farms treats were up to our standards. The Natural Chicken Jerky Recipe treats have some great qualities:

Though I could have easily divided the large piece into several smaller ones, I can't resist her cute face, so I handed over the whole thing, much to her delight. It took her about ten seconds to consume the entire piece, which let me know that the treats met her approval. 

If N.A.S.H.A. had thumbs, she'd give Betsy Farms' Natural Chicken Jerky Recipe Treats two thumbs up (and she particularly liked the large portion).

the honest kitchen grants our wishes

Thanks to chewy.com for providing me with a sample of The Honest Kitchen's Wishes to review. I only share information I feel is relevant to my readers. All opinions and ideas are my own. 

N.A.S.H.A. and I love it when we see the FedEx delivery dude approaching our door with a box from chewy.com because we know that delicious healthy treats are on their way. As I've mentioned before, N.A.S.H.A. is extremely picky when it comes to treats. We agree that the treats should be pure...for some reason she typically only enjoys treats with one ingredient, and I don't like to feed her things loaded with chemicals and preservatives. I'm a picky label reader, and she is quick to turn her nose up to anything not up to standards. Yeah, yeah...we're snobs. When I recently heard about The Honest Kitchen's Wishes treats, I was pretty sure they would meet our approval. We already love their healthy dehydrated dog food and know about the high quality of the ingredients, so we were anxious to try these treats.

Wishes only have one ingredient: pure dehydrated all natural human-grade Icelandic haddock fillets. They were created for cats and dogs to equally enjoy. What's so great about them?

• low in fat

• high in protein

• great for pets with more common protein allergies

• large pieces easily break apart, so treats are great for pets of any size

The Honest Kitchen is also conscious about environmental impact. They explain on the box that "our haddock is caught in the cold, pristine waters off the coast of Iceland using a hook and line, not trawlers, to reduce impact on the ocean's delicate eco-system." Wonderful!

is there anything not to like?

Not in N.A.S.H.A.'s opinion. In fact, she begs for these like crazy on a daily basis. Perhaps because, as put by The Honest Kitchen, they are so "aromatic." I don't personally mind the smell of fish, but if one is bothered by that, these might not be the treats for your house. They are definitely aromatic, but, thankfully, the interior bag seals tightly for storage.

Scratch and sniff?

Yes, I eventually let N.A.S.H.A. try Wishes, and she loved them! Since she's small, we broke apart one of the large pieces and found just the right size for her.

I'm so happy to have found a nutritious, pure treat to add to our arsenal of snacks N.A.S.H.A. likes. I'm pretty sure any dog would dig these, and if both dogs and cats share their home with you, even better!

When you think of a "treat" for yourself, you think of something special outside of your normal diet, right? Perhaps you think of something indulgent. That's okay, because it's just a treat–something in which you partake on occasion. Our pets sometimes end up getting even more treats than we do. Who can resist those adorable faces? 

Pure and simple.

I know that when we give our dog, N.A.S.H.A., a treat, we want it to be full of only good things. We don't do artificial colors or flavors, and we don't want 372 ingredients in the mix, because, who knows what half that stuff is, anyway? We look for something pure and healthy that will benefit her. As far as the indulgent aspect, N.A.S.H.A. lets us know which treats she likes, and there aren't many. She's pretty picky.

When chewy.com gave me the opportunity to try Dr. Tim's Genuine Freeze Dried Treats, I had a pretty good feeling they would be a hit. We received the Natural Beef Chips to sample, but other varieties include Natural Chicken Chips, Natural Turkey Chips, Natural Beef Liver, Clean Tripe, and Natural Oxtail Chips.

One glance at the ingredient list let me know we were headed in the right direction. Don't blink. you might miss it.

N.A.S.H.A. waits patiently for her first taste.

Only one ingredient. The treats are made with 100% all real USDA inspected meat from Wisconsin. Knowing the beef comes from the U.S.A.–not China–is something that is becoming increasingly important to all pet parents. We can feel safe with Dr. Tim's.

These treats provide all the nutrition and flavor of raw meat without the mess, and they are designed to be delightful to both cats and dogs. So many of us purchase separate treats for the different species in our families, but now you don't have to! I wouldn't recommend feeding them to your fish or rabbit, but at least we can get our cats and dogs on the same page. 

So were they a hit in our house? Absolutely! N.A.S.H.A. was eager and happy to sample the Natural Beef Chips. These high-quality simple treats made the cut, and we are excited to add them to our lineup of trusted and desired treat options. We even had some eager friends on hand to verify our assessment.

fromm's chicken with carrots and peas recipe treats for dogs are the real deal

Chewy, "where pet lovers love to shop" recently gave me the opportunity to try a new dog treat. You might think I'd jump at the chance without a second thought, but my pet is not a guinea pig–she's a dog–so I read the ingredient label before giving them the go-ahead to send it. U.S.A.-made Fromm's Oven-baked Chicken with Carrots and Peas Recipe Treats for Dogs were on deck, and this is how the label read:

INGREDIENTS: chicken, pea flour, potato flour, tapioca, whole peas, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), tomato pomace, cranberry, sweet potato, carrot, apple, split peas, green beans, green bell peppers, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, watercress, spinach

Everything good and nothing bad? We're in!

While we waited for our treats to arrive, I did a little research about the Fromm Family Pet Food company. They declare themselves "the world's first and oldest family-owned and operated premium pet food company," which seemed a bold statement to make, but they have the history to back it up:

N.A.S.H.A. was very excited when the package arrived. I verified the ingredients on the package and cracked it open. I knew immediately that they would be promptly rejected by my dog. She is the pickiest thing ever, and she won't eat crunchy treats. Hard kibble is fine, but her treats must be soft. She feigned interest. 

Great ingredients, and they sure do look good, mom!

She tried, but, like other crunchies, she left on the tile, which was a bummer, because these are some seriously healthy treats that I would love for her to love. Luckily, this week I've had a few other friends around to help me, and they gave these awesome treats their seal of approval. Check it out:

Darby's review. Blurry dog=excited dog. Treat consumed in 1.3 seconds.

Layla's review. Sitting pretty and being polite in hopes of having seconds and thirds. Treat consumed in one swallow.

Gypsy's review. Treat consumed along with a portion of my finger. 

Three out of four stars ain't bad, and I'm guessing that if I had more canine friends around, the positive reviews would keep rolling in. Bottom line, N.A.S.H.A. has odd taste. Don't listen to her. 

I would highly recommend Fromm's dog treats. This variety we tried was grain-free and made in the U.S.A. The treats contained high-quality, healthy ingredients, and are a great size. Not too big so your pooches can maintain a healthy weight while feeling indulgent. Isn't that what it's all about?
